The Temple of Zeus began to be constructed in 6th century BC during the rule of tyrants. It
wasn't finished until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, 638 years
after construction began. Its tall columns and large layout made the temple one of the biggest
ever built in the ancient world.
The Parthenon was dedicated to Athens' patron Athena. It's construction began in 447 BC and
was completed in 438 BC; people continued to decorate it until 432 BC. The Parthenon was
also not actually a temple, for the statue of Athena was located somewhere else in the acropolis;
this means that it would not have been worshipped.
