Y N0t 2 #38-12 Tables
The twelve tables were a way for Roman citizens to keep up with new laws and policies put in place. They were originally posted in wooden tablets on a wall but eventually became bronze so they would last longer. Wait, no, they replaced them with bronze: the wood didn't just turn into wood. You have to admit, that would be pretty damn cool though, right? Anyway, these tables allowed for plebeians to avoid being punished for crimes they didn't know were put in place. People made it a point to memorize these laws, even if they continued to change.
